A Regency gilt wood over mantel mirror c 1820 with original water gilding. This mirror is unusual on that it is fitted with an earlier 18th c bevelled plate. Glass was incredibly expensive in the 18th c due to the cost and difficulty of hand production and this plate would have been reused probably 70 years after first being made.
