A rare Peter Waals oak bookcase dated 1928 and initialled GDB commissioned for Gavin Bone ( 1907 - 1942 ) the son of the artist Sir Muirhead Bone and Professor of Anglo Saxon Poetry at Oxford University . This bookcase displays all the characteristics of Waals work including the rotating semi circular cut out disc handles which were his speciality along with exposed tenon joints . Gavin Bone was a good friend of the artist Julian Trevelyan whose uncle Sir George Trevelyan worked as an apprentice to Peter Waals at the Daneway Workshops
