Description :
An early 17th century Flemish tortoiseshell ebony walnut ivory and bone inlaid table cabinet Antwerp circa 1625 on the original gilt bun feet
This table cabinet is typical of Antwerp cabinets dating from the first quarter of the 17th century. It shows the finest etched work on the architectural columns and doorway with a biblical scene of a saint successfully creating the visual effect of depth. Tortoishell and ivory were exotic materials used in cabinet making of the time, and have been used lavishly to great effect in this piece.
