A pair of reformed Gothic Oak library Chairs circa 1880 by Bird Doveston and Hull the design attributed to Sir Alfred Waterhouse. These comfortable and well constructed oversized armchairs were made by this well-known Manchester firm responsible for the furnishings of the magnificent Gothic Town Hall in the city. Initially much of their furniture was designed by Bruce Talbert who was succeeded by Waterhouse as their in-house designer.
