A rare and unusual mid 19th century birch wood metamorphic Invalids Chair circa 1840 bearing the original makers brass plaque for J Alderman Inventor Patentee and Manufacturer 16 Soho Square London. An almost identical chair is illustrated in Marked London Furniture- 1840 in the collection of Phillips of Hitchin .
