A George 111 mahogany partners desk dated 1782

Description :

A rare George 111 mahogany partners desk dated c 1782. The business side with a fitted top drawer above three drawers to each pedestal with original brass swan neck handles- two back plates replaced.The reverse side fitted with three long drawers flanked by sides with re entrant cock beaded mouldings on a plinth base and inset brass castors for easy movement. The whole with a rich original patination and colour.

The desk separates by removing the top, the two main sections split and sit on the plinth section.

A really unusual and practical desk which is inscribed 1782 under the top and was probably made in Shrewsbury. During restoration various letter and papers dating from 1782 to the 1950`were found down the main body of the desk which refer to Shrewsbury.
